A Loss of Something Ever Felt

A mother living in Estonia is worried about the fate of her drug-addicted son Lauri, who disappeared to Latin America, because they have not communicated with each other for half a year. Without getting help from the local police, he asks his daughter Eeva to drive to look for Lauri. Despite the complicated relationship with her brother, Eeva and her husband head to Bogota, where without relying on the help of the authorities, they set out to interview the local street dwellers and their helpers together with the film’s director, Carlos Lesmes. The documentary narrative in the style of a road trip film opens an insight into the world of people addicted to drugs. Lauri’s letters to his mother and Eeva’s comments on her own experiences are added to the recording of the chain of events in the actor’s performance. The nurse’s merciless realistic assessments are contrasted with poetic and discreet shots, which, together with the corresponding musical design, form an emotional journey.
