For Ludo the narrator, the only love of his life began at the age of ten, in 1930, when he saw in the forest of his native Normandy little Lila Bronicka, Polish aristocrat spending his vacation with his parents. Since the death of his family, the young boy has had his uncle Ambroise Fleury as his tutorial known as “the stamped postman” because he makes wonderful kites known worldwide. Gifted with the exceptional “historic” memory of all his people, faithful to the values of “compulsory public education”, little Norman will never forget Lila. He tries to make himself worthy of it, studies, suffers from jealousy because of the handsome German Hans von Schwede, becomes the secretary of Count Bronicki before the departure of the family in Poland,where he joined them in June 1939, just before the explosion of the second world war which forced him to return to France. Then the separation begins for the very young lovers… To go through the trials, to defend his country and human values, to find his love, Ludo will always be supported by the image of the great kites, their symbol of audacity, poetry and freedom inscribed in the sky.
